GRAPES: Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca)

PRODUCTION AREA: Historic Valgella zone, between 380 and 500 meters above sea level, with slopes ranging from 55% to 65%. The average age of the vineyard is 25 years.

SOIL CHARACTERISTICS: The schist rock originates from the transformation of rocks that emerged from great depth during the formation of the Alps. In this vineyard, the schist is blue and tends to split very easily. The wide terraces have allowed for the accumulation of soil composed mainly of sand, gravel, and silt.

AGEING: For several years, the wine was aged first in barrels and then in bottles in the Chiuro cellars, at 300 meters above sea level. Later, the bottled wine was transferred to high altitude for further ageing in the Haven 3000 cellar in Bormio.

TASTING NOTES: The vineyard’s cold microclimate results in a longer vegetative cycle for Nebbiolo, which is expressed in a bright ruby color even after extended ageing. The complex bouquet, with hints of wild berries, rose, and violet, evolves into Mediterranean spices such as rosemary and lavender. On the palate, the tannins are well-structured, dense, and rich. The freshness on the nose and palate confirms the wine’s perfect evolution, delivering a savory and lingering finish.

ALCOHOL CONTENT: 13.5% vol

OPTIMAL STORAGE: The wine has been bottled exclusively in magnum format. Thanks to highaltitude ageing, it shows evolutionary characteristics suggesting a potential for ageing well beyond twenty years.
